15 Dec Pumpkin Patch
Pumpkin Patch is a free, annual event hosted by:
The Junior League of Birmingham, Michigan, Inc.
Every October since 1993, the Junior League of Birmingham, Michigan, Inc. (JLB) hosts its Pumpkin Patch event. This family-friendly, free Halloween celebration typically sees approximately 900 children and their families dressed in their spooky best!
The mission of the JLB is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women and improve the community through the effective action of trained volunteers. The community impact initiative of the JLB is to eliminate the epidemic of childhood obesity, which affects one in three children.
Each year, the average American eats 25 pounds of candy, much of which is consumed during Halloween. Pumpkin Patch gives children and their families a fun, active environment with games and crafts, as well as a respite from sugary candy with delicious, healthier refreshments. It’s unlike any other Halloween party! The goal is that Pumpkin Patch will help kids and parents alike take steps towards thinking about healthy (and fun) eating year-round.
